Introducing the Samuel Tinon Winery

Samuel Tinon was born in Bordeaux in 1969 and grew up on the family estate in Sainte-Croix du Mont, France. He graduated in viticulture and oenology in 1989, travelling the world as a flying winemaker in Australia, the US (Texas), Chile and Italy. In 1991 Samuel was the first French winemaker to settle in Tokaj, just after Hungary’s political changes and prior to the start of the privatisation of its vineyards. After a few months, Samuel Tinon spoke Hungarian. In fifteen years, he has accumulated experiences, harvests and quite a cult following.

You can find Samuel Tinon’s Tokaj wines in some of the best Parisian fine dining establishments such as Hôtel Georges V, Four Seasons Hotel, Hôtel Prince de Galles and Guy Savoy. After working for several Tokaji companies such as Royal Tokaji and Oremus during the 1990's, he started his own production in 2000.

His first wine was launched in 2003. In no time at all, he has found himself in a position where he can compete with some of the best. In 2007, for example, Geo Magazine singled out Samuel Tinon’s 2001 5 Puttonyos Aszú as being one of the world’s top 40 finest wines.
